Once the player has made their decision, the discarded cards are replaced at random by the video poker machine. A card can be discarded by pressing the button located directly beneath it on the game's console (there's one button for each card). In most cases, however, the player decides to throw away one to four cards. All cards can be discarded, or the player can decide to keep his initial hand. The player must now decide which cards to keep and which to get rid of. Once the size of the wager is determined and money has been inserted into the machine, the player presses the button marked "deal." At this point, five random cards will be dealt to the player and displayed on the screen. This most often comes into play when five coins are wagered, as this makes you eligible for the generous royal flush bonus. This usually ranges from one to five coins, with larger payouts offered for more ambitious bets. To begin, the player must decide on the size of their wager. The game is played with a virtual deck of 52 cards. They only take a minute to absorb, and understanding how to properly play is key to any long-term chance of success. The rules for standard video poker are easy to understand, and this section is dedicated to explaining them.
